Buy a Composter
The North Shore Recycling Program offers two composting tools to North Shore residents at subsidized prices. Both composting tools are available at the North Shore Recycling Drop-off Depot (29 Riverside Drive) every day of the week.
Garden Gourmet backyard compost bins are designed to compost an equal mix of nitrogen-rich "green" material and carbon-rich "brown" material. The lid can be completely removed for easy aeration and the sliding bottom door provides access to finished compost. With its small, square footprint, it occupies a minimum of yard space and may be placed side-by-side with additional bins to create an inexpensive multi-bin system.
Made from black 100% recycled HDPE plastic. Pre-assembly dimensions: 60 cm x 60 cm x 28 cm (fits on a standard car passenger seat). Bin requires assembly (no tools required). Assembled dimensions: 60cm x 60cm x 1m high. Weight: 12kg. $45 taxes included.
Wingdigger™ compost aerating tools are designed to work effectively with the tall and narrow Garden Gourmet compost bins. This sturdy, long poking stick has short “wings” at the end that unfold to lift and blend compacted material at the base of an active compost bin.
Made from tubular galvanized steel with brass-plated steel rivet and plastic handle grip. Measures 90cm long with 15cm handle. Weight: 500g. $7.50 taxes included.
