What We Accept

The North Shore Recycling Drop-off Depot accepts: mixed paper; flattened corrugated cardboard; newspaper; magazines; glass; tin cans; aluminium cans, foil and plates; and rigid plastics with the recycling codes  1, 2, 4 and 5 only.

Just save up your materials, and take them down to the North Shore Recycling Drop-off Depot when you're heading in that direction. And if it's your first time visiting, make sure to say hi to a staff member - they'll be able to help you out with the location of the bins, what goes where, etc.

The North Shore Recycling Drop-off Depot is a staffed, self-serve municipal recycling facility available to North Shore residents for the drop off of larger volumes and sizes of materials than might be practical in the curbside blue box program. As the recycling depot is funded solely by residential utility taxes, the facility’s primary purpose is to accept small, residential-size loads of properly sorted recyclables that would be generated by a typical residential dwelling. The facility was designed, equipped and is funded to accept and handle these types and size of loads only. Small businesses may be provided access to the facility, and allowed to drop off their properly sorted recyclables, but solely at the discretion of the on-site staff depending on the workload and capacity of the bins and facility at the time.

Hours

The depot is open 7 days per week during the following hours:

• Monday thru Friday - 8:00 am to 7:00 pm (April 1 to October 31)
• Monday thru Friday - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (November 1 to March 31)
• Saturday & Sundays - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
• Statutory holidays - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
• (Closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day)

If You Visit - Some Things to Remember:

• Please pre-sort your materials into the various 'streams' or materials we collect - it will make your visit to the Depot much more efficient and pleasant.
• You must be finished and leaving the facility by closing time.
• Staff may not always be available to assist you, depending on traffic volume and other duties.
• The Depot is a busy place - for their own safety, please keep pets inside your vehicle for the duration of your stay.
• The Depot is an industrial facility - for their own safety, children must be under your direct supervision at all times.
• For the safety of our employees, we can not accept cash for Composter or Wingdigger™ purchases. Cheques, money orders, credit cards (VISA or MasterCard) or online payments are our preferred payment options.
• We can not guarantee the security of any paper documents that are deposited in our recycling bins, either at our facility, or once they leave our facility. If you are concerned with identity theft, please ensure your confidential documents are destroyed prior to your arrival at the depot. We do not offer shredding services.
• Our staff are instructed to observe safety first - please defer to their instructions when asked to wait or move your vehicle.
