Beginning in 2015 Metro Vancouver is banning organic materials, including food scraps, from the garbage at its facilities.
This means all generators of garbage, including apartments, townhouse and condominium complexes, will need to have a system for collecting food scraps separate from garbage.
While each building has the potential to face its own challenges, including space constraints, odor management and resident education and participation, there are many simple strategies that can help make the program a success.
